Thoughts

It's our sixth and seventh anniversaries this weekend.  "What?" you ask - "How can it be two anniversaries at once?"  Well, because it's two separate anniversaries, one day and one year apart.
Seven years ago this weekend, I was in the process of moving to Illinois from Texas.  I was stuck in the great Atlanta Ice Storm for hours and hours; (look it up - the Jan. 29, 2005 ice storm in Atlanta made headlines all over the place. I'd have just as soon missed out on that little piece of history, but what can you do?)  tired, but filled with excitement and anticipation, determined to look forward instead of backward.
Six years ago this weekend, I got to marry the reason I moved from Texas to Illinois.

Ice storms and all, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

So this year we combined anniversary celebrating with computer parts shopping, and of course it was mostly unplanned, like most of our best ideas.  Chris discovered that he needed to go pick up some items at the nearest Tiger Direct/CompUSA store, which is in Naperville.  There's a Chili's in Naperville.  I adore Chili's and don't get it very often, so I suggested we see how bad the crowds were (Saturday night on IL 59 in Naperville is a mess at the best of times), and try it.  We got lucky and were late enough that most of the early dinner crowd had cleared out and we only had a five minute or less wait.  So Chris got computer parts, I got Chili's and all is right with our world.

As is usual on most nights when we have to set the alarm for some reason, I did not sleep well last night. (Chris worked a five hour OT shift today, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. except he got out at 2).  So now, I'm full, and I'm sleepy at a time which was early to think about bedtime for us when I started this, but is now creeping toward a reasonable hour at which to go to bed.  I doubt I'll have any trouble sleeping tonight, since the only thing I have to do tomorrow is turn in schoolwork.  We can sleep as late as we like.  Ahhhhhh...bliss.

And we both took Monday off for the actual anniversary date (the sixth one), so we get to do it all again (without the schoolwork deadlines) on Sunday night.  Life is good.

Who did it?

Whoever is responsible for making today feel like it's been 8 years long can just knock it off already.  It's been a LONG time since a day has dragged like this.  Even my usual strategies for making time fly haven't worked.  I've cleaned, I've got music on, I've watched a couple of episodes of Merlin, and it's barely 10 p.m.  What the heck?

People have called, Chris has texted as usual, and the day continues to crawl.  I don't even know.   Maybe it's because I have a four day weekend coming up?  I took Monday off for mine and Chris's wedding anniversary (6 years already, wow!), and since I never work Tuesdays, that gives me a nice long weekend.  What do you want to bet THOSE four days pass like lightning?

Randomness

I'm on a soup kick.  Potato-corn chowder. Chicken and dumplings (my version usually turns out more soup than not). Chili. Chicken Tortilla Soup. Beef and Mushroom stew. If it goes into a bowl and you eat it with a spoon, I'm craving it. Unfortunately,  unless it goes on a plate and you eat it with a fork,  Chris does not consider it a meal.  And I usually can't finish an entire batch of soup by myself before I'm tired of it.

NARS makeup is evil. EVIL I tell you.  Something on their website brainwashes you to want every.single.thing.they.make.  I don't know how they do it, but I can testify that it works.

Lots of new books out - the latest White House Chef mystery by Julie Hyzy tops my TBR.  Can't wait to find out how Ollie and the most obnoxious sensitivity director the White House ever had manage to work together without killing each other.  Yes, I am aware they're fictitious characters.  No, I don't care. They're more real to me than YOU are.

Classes start Monday, so I might be scarce again (since this blog has almost no readers, I don't see this being a major inconvenience, *grin*.)  I can't say I'm looking forward to school starting, but I just need to remember: 8 more classes and I'm DONE.  And then I get to start paying off student loans.  Yippee....
